FROM SICILY FOR COCAINE DEALING IN ORVIETO, FOLLOWED BY DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, A 53-YEARS-OLD DETAINED IN FUERTEVENTURA AWAITING EXTRADICION
He had been on the run for seven years, the fifty-three-year-old Sicilian who transported and possessed cocaine for the purpose of drug dealing in the Orvieto area in 2009 and 2010. Thanks to the investigative work of the SDI office, which included a member of the Penitentiary Police Corps, the General Prosecutor’s Office in Perugia was able to first trace the movements of his daughter, who periodically traveled to Spanish territory, with a focus on the Canary Islands. Subsequently, they identified the fugitive who was then arrested on the island of Fuerteventura.
The man is facing a prison sentence of four years and three months, not only for drug-related crimes but also for domestic violence, criminal actions committed in the territories of the municipalities of Orvieto and Baschi. During the same period, he was convicted of mistreating and threatening his ex-wife, who was a victim of multiple instances of abuse that even resulted in a cranial injury.
The arrest was carried out five days ago by officers of the Spanish National Police, who thus interrupted the man’s “golden” vacation in some of the most renowned tourist locations in the area. He had been spotted on several occasions on the beaches and in the local nightlife venues. Currently, the individual is awaiting extradition to Italy.
